Most people go to a chiropractor because they are in pain.  During this first phase of care, our goal is to decrease your symptoms.  The frequency of the visits per week depends on the severity of the situation.  Typically Dr. Kelly Bahr sees patient 2-3 times per week for a time.

Most people believe that if they don’t feel pain that there is nothing wrong with them and that they are healthy.  Unfortunately, this is just not the case.  Pain and other symptoms are very poor indicators of health.  Symptoms are an indication that the problem the body has been dealing with quietly has become more advanced.  They are our body’s warning signal that something is wrong and it needs help.  Likewise, you can not say that once your symptoms have resolved that you’re healthy.  The cause of the symptoms often still exists even once the symptoms are gone.

For example, consider a cavity in your tooth.  Does is hurt when it first develops or only after it has become serious?  How about heart disease?  Regardless of whether you are talking about cancer, heart disease, diabetes, stress or problems with the spine, pain is usually the last thing to appear.  When you begin chiropractic care, pain is also the first symptom to disappear, even though much of the underlying condition remains.
